This is a workbook and just has questions for the reader to answer.
There is no review and worse there is no answers given in the book so you cannot check to see if your work is correct.
Then there is no access to the online content either.
Some of the questions do not seem to be anything you would need in practice or to know for the registry review exams.
I'm returning the books.

Mosbys study prep is much better content, with logical review, better questions. and answers.

Good for physician assistants and sonographers - information is very basic. I have placed it in our library as a resource book for the registered vascular technicians. Unfortunately, the feedback I have gotten is that the book does not have answers to the questions. However, it It is published as a workbook and the reader should use that as an opportunity to get the information from a Google search or to get it from the companion textbook that the authors have published.

State of the art in 1886

This is a good reference for the theory, understanding, and operation of electric dynamos in 1886. A short amount is devoted to electric motors as well. There is very little on AC machines, new at this date. I give it only 4 stars because many of the engravings of various machines came out poorly.

From the Author
I've been reading and writing about learning and memory for twenty years, ever since I graduated with a doctorate in cognitive psychology and realized I had no practical advice for myself when lack of sleep robbed me of my brain.

Study skills are an area of particular interest to me. I was one of those annoyingly bright students who never needed to work very hard to do well enough. It was only in retrospect, as my native cunning failed me, that I realized I would have established a better foundation for expertise if I had applied some effective study strategies.

Then again, no one had ever really taught me much in the way of good study strategies. Back when I was at school, teachers probably had a good enough excuse in that no one really knew much about cognition. Cognitive psychology was yet in its infancy!

But we've come a long long way since then, and it has been my pleasure in the last twenty years to watch our knowledge grow, and to tease out from the wealth of research those bits that are of practical help to students and teachers.

Perhaps the most important knowledge we have gained is the realization that 'talent' and 'intelligence' are not the fixed, inborn attributes we thought they were. A lot of it has to do with the education and experiences a child has; a lot of it has to do with attitude. A person who believes that intelligence isn't fixed, that whatever the subject they can master it, is a person who is far more likely to succeed. This isn't some mystical 'think positive' claim. This is because such a person is more likely to find and use effective strategies.

Be that person. (Or if you're a teacher: help your students be that person!)

About the Author
Fiona McPherson has a PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of Otago (New Zealand). This theoretical grounding has been the foundation stone for the research she has spent the last twenty years exploring — the question of how to improve human memory. In 1999 her book The Memory Key was published in New Zealand. It has subsequently been published in the United States and Germany, and has most recently been republished in revised form by Random House UK as Perfect Memory Training. Since 2000 she has maintained a website (www.mempowered.com) dedicated to providing information on memory and how to improve it.

I have been out of school for 30 years at least with 2 Doctorates. Would love to have had this back in the day. What I need is a note taking strategies for Speeches / sermons. Not so much for grades but for my own learning use. Good book for help in the college. Yes, I don't like students asking is that going to be on the test.

About the Author

Jay S. Albanese is professor in the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. He served as chief of the International Center at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the research arm of the U.S. Department of Justice. Dr. Albanese received his Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from Rutgers University and his B.A. from Niagara University. He was the first Ph.D. recipient from the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice. Dr. Albanese is author or editor of 18 books that include Organized Crime: From the Mob to Transnational Organized Crime (7th ed., Routledge, 2015), Criminal Justice (5th ed., Prentice Hall, 2013), Transnational Crime and the 21st Century (Oxford University Press, 2011), Comparative Criminal Justice Systems (with H. Dammer, 5th ed., Wadsworth, 2014), and editor-in-chief of The Encyclopedia of Criminology and Criminal Justice (Wiley, 2014). Dr. Albanese is recipient of the Elske Smith Distinguished Lecturer Award from Virginia Commonwealth University and the Scholar Award in Criminal Justice from the Virginia Social Science Association. He is a Fulbright Specialist and has served as executive director of the International Association for the Study of Organized Crime, on the Executive Board of the American Society of Criminology, and is a past president and fellow of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences

This is a variation of the "I'll be true to my dead love forever" trope. The hero, recently inheriting an earldom and a mountain of debts, breaks it off with his 'secret' fiancee because she has no money and he now needs buckets of it. She pitches a royal fit and commits suicide. He's distraught and immediately begins his hunt for an heiress.

Plot hole #1: He and the fiancee had been close, life-long friends, so why didn't he know she was seriously unstable? Instead, he had only heard rumors?

Michael finds his heiress, Elizabeth, and puts on a good enough act to entice the starry-eyed little thing down the aisle. Then, beginning with their abrupt departure from their wedding breakfast, he treats her like dirt and will have nothing to do with her. End of his thespian skills.

Plot hole #2: Michael vowed on the dead fiancee's grave that he would have no marital relations with his wife. He harps on his honor and duty, but what about his vows to Elizabeth? He had told the dead fiancee he was duty bound to provide an heir. But honor and duty only seem to come into play to fulfill "the vow." Inconsistency going on here.

Regardless of his sorrow and feelings of guilt, there is no excuse for his wretched treatment of Elizabeth, which she puts up with way too long, in my opinion. But even tolerant Elizabeth hits the road when he tells her he doesn't want her, just her money.

Elizabeth is now in London attending social functions. Michael follows along a few weeks later, thinking he'll help her adapt. He finds her in a dark corridor of a home in which a ball is in progress; he jams her against a wall and starts to have his way with her. She stands for that? She actually apologizes to *him* because she was in the corridor with a man who'd dragged her there AGAINST HER WILL? She's now gone from tolerant to doormat.

Michael breezes along, escorts her here and there, and they work in some sex (darn that vow.) Elizabeth does deliver a couple of excellent speeches to Michael.....the best parts of the novel, in my opinion. They sparkle. But she lets him off scot-free really. He's a jerk. So many pages are devoted to Michael's suffering, that not enough is left to explore his and Elizabeth's relationship, or for him to grovel! The result is an uneven story.

Christopher Alexander is now The Earl of CarhamptonHe has to tell Sophie his best friend he can not marry her he has to marry for money. She goes crazy something she had to be hiding from him. She tells him she will die if he marries someone else.He has to promise her he won't sleep with his wife or have children. She does kill herself and he is left with guilt. Elizabeth Cross is having her first season and she is picked by him to be his wife since she has more money than anyone else. She thinks he is marrying her to have a real marriage.
He refuses to to have sex with her or spend much time with her.he spends his time getting the farm land in shape. She finally leaves him and goes to London after he finally tells her he wanted only her money.
He finally goes to find her and finds her in another arms not sitting home as he thought. Elizabeth is finally getting to him but the guilt over SophIa remains. Elizabeth is not giving up but can she convince him to make her his wife in all ways and forget SophIa?

This book shows that if you start a relationship on the proverbial wrong foot it can still turn out right if you work at it with determination and lots of love. The story flowed right allowing from the beginning to the end. The story ended at just the right time and place. A lot of stories end way to soon and leave you wondering what happened next or why it ended.
