Lacks substance

This features a lot of artwork, most of which can be seen larger in more informative volumes, like "Street Fighter: Eternal Challenge". Every book that Udon has published about Street Fighter is better than this book.

The bulk of the book is pretty shallow. It feels like Chris Carle is writing a high school essay about his favorite hobby. Most of the history is glanced over and generalized. The side stories in the book are equally uninformative.

Most of the main characters are give a few pages of artwork, but MANY characters are omitted and the book leaves a lot to be desired.

The design in the book is ok, with some interesting spreads and full page images of classic Street Fighter imagery. The covers crease VERY easily though. You will likely leave creases in the cover just from reading the book.

This book is hardly a complete history. It is more of a general overview. This would be a great book for someone who knows nothing about Street Fighter, but why would someone who knows nothing about Street Fighter want a book of its history?

As far as I can tell 100% of the art in this book is either:

1.official game art (all of which, and much much more, can be found in UDON's oversized art book SF20: The Art of Street Fighter)

2.artwork knicked from UDON's Street Fighter Tribute oversized artbook.
Street Fighter Tribute

Both of these books feature much larger pages, and TONS more content. So if you are interested in this book for the art, don't bother.

This book is anything but "complete."

Took me a an hour to read through the whole thing, nothing particularly interesting or that i was not aware of before. I did enjoy the artwork in this book, although they just reprints from other sources.

The section on street fighter III was like less than 2 pages of text.

I would say the best part about this book are the quotes from the people who worked in developing the games.

Check out NostalgicGamer's "Street Fighter Retrospective" ([...]) for a much better and thorough look at the history of street fighter.

Continuing with the theme of distinguishing between foods, Chapter 2 discusses the use of ultrahigh pressure liquid chromatography accurate mass quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry with electrospray ionization for analyzing flavonoid-based compounds in onions, for the purpose of varietal identification. Chapter 3 details
the use of high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for quality control and product standardization of the East Asian botanical jiaogulan. In Chapter 4, lanthanide-sensitized luminescence spectrometry is applied to detection of tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones in food. Chapter 5 shows how glycemic index may be determined for extruded grains blended with whey protein or cashew pulp. Polymethoxyflavones and derivatives, which occur in citrus fruits, are described in Chapter 6 along with chromatographic techniques for analyzing them. Chapter 7 discusses rheology as a method for looking at characteristics of bioplastics. The book wraps up with three chapters centering on color. Blue pigments, which are scarce in nature, are covered in Chapter 8 along with methods for separating and identifying them. In Chapter 9, resonance Raman spectroscopy was used to identify blue and red forms of anthrocyanins in grapes at various pH levels. A description of color changes in polydiacetylene-based smart packaging, and Raman spectroscopic methods for measuring them, are found in Chapter 10.

This is a very easy to understand Chemistry textbook that starts with the basics and goes up to very advanced topics. Anyone that is serious about learning chemistry should have this book. It has many diagrams, is easy to understand, and gives many different methods to think about the same thing.
I would definitely recommend this book to another person, and the only negative comment I have about this book is its large size and weight (although judging by how much information is in the book, its well worth the arm strain).

The review section in the beginning of the book is quite long and essentially reviews all of the things a typical high school graduate should understand after taking high school chemistry. Each chapter of the book focuses on a more in-depth look at topics. I was frustrated that some of the more advanced material was just glossed over, or equations were thrown out with little to no explanation.

To make proper use of this text, you really need another resource like a talented professor.

Investigative journalist Shah maintains her signature pattern (Crude, 2004; The Body Hunters, 2006) here, exposing both the seemly and not-so-seemly aspects of the subject under review. As Shah demonstrates, when it comes to taming, never mind eradicating, malaria, the disease is cannily able to keep the ball in humankind's court. Notwithstanding, people in tropical climes who live with its ubiquitous presence have over time come to uneasy terms with the fever. That is not to say they would not benefit from a cure. Indeed, their need is most critical. It's just that when Western nontropical humans are exposed to malaria, they suffer its worst effects, then tackle the problem in largely ineffectual ways. And it is not for want of money (think Bill and Melinda Gates). But Shah takes no prisoners, blasting everyone, including the World Health Organization. Even Harvard's state-of-the art Malaria Initiative takes it on the chin for eschewing unglamorous but effectual grunt work in favor of “lavishly funded . . . economy building technology.” Malaria may rule humankind, but Shah rules the in-depth investigative report. --Donna Chavez

Read this because I was thinking of donating more to anti-malarial efforts and wanted to do some research. By the time I finished the book, I became aware of just how big the problem is and wish that I was much, much wealthier.

Good Book, Better Course

I had the privledge of taking the course that Dr. Erickson teaches that uses this text. It is a decent book and an excellent class.
The book would probably not be as useful to those who do not have formal instruction, but would be a good reference with simple examples for those who already have some experience with Process Controls.
