About the Author
Lee Epstein is Ethan A.H. Shepley Distinguished University Professor at Washington University in St. Louis. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. A recipient of 12 grants from the National Science Foundation for her work on law and legal institutions, Epstein has authored or co-authored over 100 articles and essays, as well as 15 books, including The Choices Justices Make (co-authored with Jack Knight), which won the Pritchett Award for the Best Book on Law and Courts and the Lasting Contribution Award for making a "lasting impression on the field of law and courts." The Constitutional Law for a Changing America series (co-authored with Thomas G. Walker) received the Teaching and Mentoring Award from the Law and Courts Section of the American Political Science Association. Her most recent books are The Behavior of Federal Judges, with William M. Landes and Richard A. Posner, and An Introduction to Empirical Legal Research, with Andrew D. Martin. Thomas G. Walker is the Goodrich C. White Professor of Political Science at Emory University, where he teaches courses in constitutional law and the judicial process. He is the coauthor of A Court Divided (1988), with Deborah Barrow, which won the V. O. Key, Jr. Award for the best book on southern politics, and the Constitutional Law for a Changing America series, with Lee Epstein. Ricardo Zea, originally from Medellin, Colombia, is a passionate and seasoned full-stack designer now located in Dayton, OH (USA). He is always looking for ways to level up his skills and of those around him. Constantly wondering how things are made on the Web, how they work, and why they work the way they do have made Ricardo a very technical designer, allowing him to explain to others the intricacies of design and the technicalities of the Web in ways that are very easy to understand and assimilate. Empower your web design to a new level

This book takes responsive web design to a new level, a true professional level far away from myths and speculations. It is a complete walk through all steps you need in order to achieve true responsive design using best techniques available today. From using SASS to develop powerful CSS styles to adopting grid or flex frameworks to lay out all elements and get a pretty looking design no matter which device is used to watch the site. There are plenty of examples and code along the book that you can copy paste and test or use in your own work. The chapter I found most useful is the one about images and video, that gives you smart tricks to deal with heavy media files and reduce their size without compromising the overall quality. Some basic web developing knowledge is advised to get the most out of this book.

A great resource for anyone making websites that will be used on mobile devices.
It is obvious that Ricardo has put a lot of time and research into this book. Each chapter explores concepts in detail, provides coded examples and links to even more detail. Ricardo writes in a very "conversational" way. You feel like he's talking you through each concept.

In chapter 1 he explores concepts that go into a responsive web design.
In chapter 2 he dives into new tools in HTML5 that help make a mobile friendly design possible.
In chapter 3 he provides a detail comparison of mobile-first to desktop-first concepts.
In chapter 4 he takes a deep look at grids, frameworks, UI kits and flexbox.
In chapter 5 he talks about designing websites for small screens
In chapter 6 he does a fantastic job detailing a process to get the best out of images, using the element and the srcset attribute
In chapter 7 he explores typography, web fonts and best usage without making too many web calls
In chapter 8 he provides what I consider as "bonus content". He explores concepts to make your email newsletters responsive.

Again, if you're a frontend web developer or a web designer working with code, this is a great reference and resource book.

This book makes me jump from a totally beginner with zero knowledge about the topic, to a developer with sufficient knowledge to start every project my boss ask me, with a deep approach we can have a really useful tools kit to make responsible web as we would like to make, it covers all I need to make desktop and mobile responsible designs, but I have to say that most of this content was new for me, but this book gives all I need to start working, I easily could understand all the book content, is really easy to understand, I liked the fact that now I can do my responsive sites, like the author said, I feel like I have superpowers too.

Boring, Predictable & Generic Advice for Women

This book does the opposite of what its title lets on. I had previously read, "The Superwoman Syndrome" by Marjorie Hansen Shaevitz (Mass Market Paperback - Jan 1, 1984). Marjorie's book actually helps women to see where they need to combat the feelings of inadequacy and feeling that they need to be able to do it all. She then helps women to figure out how to not be striving to be it all anymore, by delegating and giving up some things. Marjorie's book is still the best book on overcoming the superwoman syndrome. It is out of print, but buy it used. It will change your life!

In trying to help women, "Overcoming the Superwoman syndrome" inadvertently encourages women to strive harder to be "superwomen," by being able to be it all and do it all (because we would not want to leave out a single thing that could make us happy and fulfilled!) If it were written by one woman, it may have been better, but having each of these many women tell me what is the most important, I feel very inadequate, like I am not doing enough to be the perfect woman.

This book should be titled, "How to be a Superwoman by being the best professional woman and the best family woman you can be."

sent wrong book, got 60% refund

First, they sent me the instructor edition, I am a student so that was not what I ordered and then they proceeded to tell me I couldn't get a full refund because sending it back is "bad for everyone" ...I don't think so. I expect a full refund, you sent me the wrong book! Very frustrated, probably will never buy from again -I can afford to spend $200 and then not get the item I asked for and not get a refund!?

I just want to mention the Supersite. Buying the book and getting a passcode will not give you access to all the online material. All the grammar lessons online cost per chapter. Granted each chapter is only $1.50, but still, is that really necessary? I didn't think so. Also, in the book you see no mention of extra online costs for the grammar materials.

Vasant Lad, Ayurvedic Physician, brings a wealth of classroom and practical experience to the United States. He received the degree of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pune, in Pune, India in 1968 and a Master of Ayurvedic Science from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya in Pune, India in 1980. For 3 years, Dr. Lad served as Medical Director of the Ayurveda Hospital in Pune. He also held the position of Professor of Clinical Medicine for seven years at the Pune University College of Ayurvedic Medicine, where he was an instructor for many years. Dr. Lad's academic and practical training includes the study of allopathic medicine (Western Medicine) and surgery as well as traditional Ayurveda. In 1979, he began traveling throughout the United States sharing his knowledge of Ayurveda, and in 1981, he returned to New Mexico to teach Ayurveda. Dr. Lad founded and has served as the Director of The Ayurvedic Institute since 1984.

Anisha Durve is an Acupuncture Physician, Ayurvedic practitioner and Yoga therapist practicing in Florida. She completed her three year clinical training in acupuncture at the Southwest College of Acupuncture in Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduating in 2000 with a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine degree. Afterwards, she completed a clinical internship at the Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing, China. Anisha spent four years training under Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in New Mexico as well as his clinic in Pune, India. She received additional training in panchakarma at the Indus Valley Ayurvedic Center in Mysore, India. To deepen her studies in yoga, she trained at the Vivekananda Yoga Kendra in Bangalore, India and is a certified relax and renew instructor. Anisha is enthusiastic about teaching workshops on marma therapy for acupuncturists, Ayurvedic practitioners, yoga teachers and massage therapists around the country.

Simply the Best

I've read many (good) books on Marma Chikitsa, from western and Indian authors. But I always felt that something was missing. This book from Dr. Lad is simply the best and most complete book. It brings a comprehensive description of 117 points (more than all other books), and a very interesting correlation with acupoint. It is certainly an essential book for those who want deeper studies on Ayurveda.

This book is great for explaining the differences and commonalities between marma points and acupunture points. It has alot of information and is really good sized.
